I thought that was Hans! But then I realize that I would have posed him against much snootier books. Lescroart? No wonder the cat is sleeping!

I'm sure Mr. Lescroart would be happy to be of service.

In my own defense, that book is in the "read it, now get rid of it" pile.

On the other hand, one couldn't pick a more prestigious volume that "Colossus "- Niall Ferguson's volume on American Imperialism. The title comes from a quote of Thomas Jefferson's to the effect that the newly formed United State is going to be the Colossus of Imperialism of North America. Interesting book which makes the case that a benevolent American empire would be a good thing and any time we invade a place like Iraq we should follow the British model and plan to stay for at least 100 and possibly 200 years.

When you decide to get rid of it, send it to me. :-)

Heh. Good eyes, TC. I remain aware that I am a mere borrower of that volume. I did like the spine-title-as-caption aspect, but the resident manx wouldn't like me to acknowledge her zaftigness.

So, we'll leave it there.
