Sarah Wildman has a detailed column in the Guardian with a number of supporting links, if you'd like to find out more about Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama), the new point man who will lead what is certain to be opposition to whomever Obama nominates to be the next Supreme Court Justice.

Do you think that anyone Obama chooses will face serious opposition? That is a serious question; if he chooses someone who's even vaguely on the mainstream part of the political spectrum can you imagine enough people filibustering his choice at the say so of Sessions? Can't they get their nominee through without needing to get any Republican support at all in theory? That is a serious question... 60/40 is enough to force a vote, isn't it? The so-called "nuclear option"?
