Attack!!!

Maybe it's just how I've been socialized, but my first reaction to this headline …

…was something other than the writer probably intended.

The article does say that the robot's name is "Robonaut 2, or R2 for short." Yeah, like that is supposed to assuage our fears.

Fears? What fears?

Yes, there are always potential upsides, aren't there?

;)

I will not enter the site unless there is some assurance that there are advanced and affordable male robots available.

...

On second thought, forget it. I don't even want to think about the possibility of malfunctions...

After I saw your link, I Googled sex robots (which, truly, is the only reason I (now) know about that site), and it occurred to me that with all the worries people have about our military robots taking over and wiping out humanity, we might well be overlooking the real threat.

Huh?

What threat?

I would think about this differently. What if instead of drones or bombs in Afghanistan we deployed an army of Roxxxy's? Wouldn't that keep men busy there instead of killing others?

It's a thought...

Stop laughing.

See? That's how it'll start -- a perfectly reasonable-sounding suggestion, which may even work, and then there'll be that much more acceptance. And then the technology will get better and better.

At some point, we'll have good enough sex robots that ... well, I'll not share my dark forebodings, this being a family blog.
