Bleg

Jon Swift, by BatocchioAny post on this blog from the last year stand out in your mind?

As especially good, I mean. Not all those other ones.

Why I'm asking: Batocchio is putting together the Jon Swift Memorial Roundup 2011 and has very kindly asked me to participate in the tradition started by Jon, "The Best Posts of the Year, Chosen by the Bloggers Themselves."

Here's the 2010 edition.

Drop any suggestions you have in the comments, or in my email inbox, or twitter stream, or what have you. Thanks.

Tebow/Costas was particularly righteous!

Dishonest Donald Douglas... Shitting on everything he touches, even on Christmas eve... Kinda makes ya feel bad for him, don't it?

(Can't use a calendar, either... the post he's whining about was eligible in 2010...)

Yikes! I missed this post! I was out of town travelling and didn't have very much time to get online. I feel bad that I missed this.

However! I see you submitted the one about Tebow, and I'd have to agree with Eb that that was a pretty good one.

That said, here are a few of my favorites for the year.

Sometimes it's the short and simple ones that stick with me. That post was hilarious. I spent more time than I care to admit spinning the wingnut wheel to see who would come up next. :-D Sadly, it no longer seems to work with the new Twitter... :-C

I also always enjoy your language-related posts, like this one, and this one. Thanks for the response to that last one, by the way.

I loved your spooky animated GIF, here. (Did you make that?)

This one might have been my nominee for best of the year if not for the Tebow post. Excellent illustration of the wingnut lying. The bastards.

Finally, I appreciated this post about Facebook security. On more than one occasion, actually, you've prompted me to make changes to my (basically dormant) Facebook profile to make it more secure. So, thanks.

I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that come to mind.

Hope you had a good Christmas.

Hey, thanks for that. I'm flattered you remembered so many specific posts.

Probably just as well you were away -- it was easier to make a choice with only one nomination. ;)

And yes, that's my animated GIF. I'm hoping that with a few more years of hard work, I'll get good enough to apply for a position as an intern at The House of Substance.

Oh, well, the flattery is deserved. Maybe this is a good time to thank you for providing us with good stuff to read all year. The truth is that the real joy of your blog isn't any one particular post, it's the totality and the variety over time.

So, what did you use to make that animated GIF? And where did you upload it? I uploaded one to Image Shack and it de-animated it... :-(

Thanks for the first ¶.

Yes, I found out the hard way about Image Shack's sudden Mr. Freeze act, too. Spent a long time trying to debug what was happening with some GIF I made; finally thought to ask. (Turns out it was that Bachmann GIF where the rude awakening happened.)

Anyway, I use Photobucket to host my anim gifs now. They don't have quite as nice an interface for uploading as Image Shack, but it's not too bad.

To make that animated GIFs and others, I use Photoscape.

Link for Photobucket, also.
