I'm surprised that people can't go overseas for texts: there are lots of curricula in English all over the world. And free electronic texts are multiplying like crazy.
The e-textbooks is a hopeful thought. But the thing about the wingnuts is they're really good at getting themselves on school boards and other "approval" committees, so I wonder how much of an option that'll really be. Plus, there is somewhat of a problem of getting (and supporting) e-readers for poor kids -- you know the wingnuts won't let a penny of public money be spent on that if they sense it means losing control over the content.
