Putting a price tag on My Good Name(?)

It's nice to fantasize about for a moment or two (baby big brother needs a new pair of sandals laptop ... well, one of these years, anyway) but, uh, I don't really believe it. As far as I know, all of my doppelgängers have a different middle initial.

But hey, if you're someone new out there online, with nine benjamins burning a hole in your pocket, please get in touch! I may not be easy, but I'm comparatively cheap!

I'm bad, I'm worldwide

From a page of last week's stats about visitors to this blog:

Unfortunately, due to cropping, the part in the right column header saying "(millions)" was truncated. We regret the error.

Probably!

However, I have not actually read Donald Douglas's post.

Notorious on Listorious

Hmmm ... what is this Listorious thing Twitter thinks I should follow?

Hah! Just look at some of those lists and tags.

Nice to know I'm having some effect, I guess.

Just wish they didn't misspell ingenious.

Oh, hey look!

Big time, baby!

Apparently, you can now see my blog posts on my Google+ page

From now on. Assuming I clicked all the right buttons, I mean.

Q: Why would you want to see my blog posts on Google+?
A: Four letters: xkcd.

If it works, thank this page.

[Added] It may require switching to the new Blogger interface to make this happen. This may only be a temporary requirement: I did have to switch to make this post appear on my G+ page, because the particular Setting referred to in the page linked to above does not appear under Settings in the old interface. I will have to wait until I put up another post to see if the setting change I made under the new interface persists, even though I have switched back to the old interface.

[Added2] It does appear that you have to be using the new Blogger interface is you want the Google+ posting to happen as described above; i.e., the pop-up prompt did not appear, nor did the auto-posting happen when I switched back to the old interface and put up a new post. If you really hate the new interface and want your Blogger blog posts to appear on G+, you can do this by hand: switch to the new interface, click "Share" under the post(s) you want to share, switch back to the old interface. Tedious, I grant.

I are a restaurant

Came across an old bookmark, from a past session of ego-surfing, I expect. I are now closed, sadly, although it looks like I have been replaced by the Yucatan Taco Stand, which is way more fun to say.

I still live in Google Street View, however!

Click the first two pics to embiggen.

This one turns into noise if you try to blow it up any further, so I'm just going to declare that, according to the fine print, I was once an American Bistro.

[Added] Probably a bit too late for me (the restaurant), but I'm told that Google Street View may soon allow you to walk into various places of business, virtually. Here's a short video report from Newsy on that. (Sorry not to have embedded it, but it is too wide to fit in this blog's posting space, and it does not appear to be resizeable.)

Big time, baby!

OR. Perhaps it is just a measure of the amount of attention Newt isn't getting.

You're welcome, Joshua!

And everyone else!

The Appearance of Conflict

Is it an honor to be blogrolled on a site called World O' Crap?

(Actually, yes, it is. Thanks, Scott and s.z.!)

Respect my authoritah!

So, I was testing this new search engine called DuckDuckGo, and by "testing" I mean "typing in my own name," and I discovered that a "Best Answer - Chosen by Voters" on Yahoo Answers had cited one of my blog posts.

Also, the answerer, Love Heart ♥ ("a full time model" with an "LLB Degree in Law & BA (Hons) in English Literature and Linguistics"), uses this for an avatar:

DuckDuckGo, it is claimed (via), does not save your search queries nor pass them along to the sites you visit by clicking on its results, unlike the Google, so that may be of interest if you are concerned about this aspect of your online privacy.

As far as my own concerns about online privacy go, I can only say that I am always happy to be discovered by well-educated environmentally conscious underwear models.

Oh, hey, look at that. I remembered my blog's fifth birthday. Happy birthday, blog!

Thanks for reading, for however long you have been.

(And no, it's just a coincidence that I started on Pearl Harbor Day.)

Disambiguation Notice

[Update 2025-05-23 13:27] Sorry that almost all of the following links are now out of date. Either Brendan Keefe is becoming an endangered species or most of my namesakes have moved on to better places. The last ("uncountable") one still works, and is still a delight.

Not me.

(Not that, on a day like today, I wouldn't like it to be.)

Now there are three. (No. Sadly, I myself have yet to win an Emmy.) [Added: Or a Peabody.]

[Update 2011-03-03 16:14] Make that four.

[Update 2011-06-30 07:30] Five.

[Update 2011-11-17 13:30] Six. And dammit, if someone mails him a surprise book when they meant to send it to me … ;)

[Update 2011-06-17 16:48] Seven.

[Update 2012-07-26 18:26] Eight. (See photo credit.)

[Update 2017-02-19 13:58] It's becoming uncountable.

Flattery Will Get You Everywhere, Twitter

Just noticed the new "Similar to You" feature of the new Twitter on my profile page:

I haven't been so tickled by an unmerited inclusion since the last time some wingnut compared me to Alinsky.

Frist!!!

It has been too long since I subjected you to a happy finding from my endless I MEAN OCCASIONAL ego-surfing, hasn't it? Oh, just play along.

I wouldn't presume to think this has (these have) anywhere near the staying power of certain other four-word lines, but if it got a little legs, leading into the midterms, that'd be pretty darned good.

Hey, cool! I'm someone else's enemy! Thanks, @AmericanLady49!

You wingnuts do love to construct your lists, don't you?

For some reason, the above immediately made me think of a picture I saw earlier. Were you in Washington, DC, today by any chance?

Well, in at least one regard:

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is now following me on the Twitter!
