Happy Anniversary, Flowbee!

Larry Flowbee JohnsonOur Wonkette reminds us that one year ago tomorrow was supposed to be the day that Larry C. "Flowbee" Johnson would release the imaginary Michelle Obama "whitey" tape.

May that lying little weasel never live this down.

If you've forgotten the particulars (and care), see my "Flowbee Watch" post from last August.

The Wingnutosphere in a Nutshell

From Ace of Spades HQ:

Again, whether this is real or hoax, we damn well need to act like it's true (because it is) and get out there.

Ace of Spades, if you've lost track, is CPAC Blogger of the Year. The above was evidently posted by one of his co-bloggers, but I think you take my point.

If you'd rather not risk your sanity by clicking, I will summarize for you. No, no. Don't thank me. I'm just indulging one of my morbid fascinations.

The above blockquote refers to the latest shiny object, a blog post on RedState.com, claiming to be an email from "Anonymous_14," purportedly written by an Obama campaign worker, who claims to have previously been a Hillary campaign worker, "all the way to the bitter end. And believe me, it was bitter," who, after moving to the Obama campaign after the primaries, "was still bitterly loyal to Hillary."

She reports that Obama knows his "only chance is to foster disorganization, chaos, despair, and a sense of inevitability among the Republicans." She discusses "our misinformation networks," the "spirited campaign … to infiltrate many pro-Hillary sites and discredit them," the "more disorganized, but genuine effort" that has "been made to sow doubts among the unapologetically right wing sites such as redstate.com," and other techniques that are "all part of the poll-skewing process." She reveals that Joe the Plumber "scares us more than anything" and Sarah Palin, lack of support among Hillary voters, and the Bradley effect are "what the Obama campaign already knows are their weak links."

"Our internal polling" is next, revealing that Obama has "next to no chance" in a long list of swing states (all of which pollster.com shows Obama leading by anywhere from 2% to 13%). We move then to the current VP scuttlebutt --- "Obama actually went against the advice of his top advisors," all of whom recommended Hillary but were "overruled" by Michelle, and now it is unanimously agreed that Biden "has been a disaster."

And then there's Ayers and other "radical connections," for which the Obama campaign has secret plans to combat, which leads to [hold on tight now]: "McCain has wisely not harped on this in recent weeks." And of course the big finish, which will shock, shock you: "What I do know is that I will not be voting for Obama this time around."

Yeah. All the subtlety of a 2x4 between the eyes, i'n'it? And yet the wingnuts are on it like rabid, starving weasels.

Once more, and this time with feeling and much added emphasis:

Again, whether this is real or hoax, we damn well need to act like it's true (because it is) and get out there.

Where's the purple crayon font when you need it?

(h/t: Teh Sadlys)

[Added] And speaking of rabid weasels, do you think they are on this over at Flowbee's House of Hate? Does a bear poop in the pine trees?

I just spoke with both Lynette Long and Larry Johnson. Lynette is redoubling her original verification of this post. Regardless, as Larry Johnson points out, this post has INTERESTING and VALID POINTS TO MAKE … for heaven’s sake don’t get bogged down by the source or where else you think you saw it. That doesn’t matter.

Of course it doesn't.

Line of the Day: 2008-10-31

I hear that Larry Johnson has a video of Barack Obama saying that he's going to replace the Star-Spangled Banner with the Theme from Shaft, to which I say: it's about time.
-- TBogg (and yes, TBogg has video!) (not that video)

Hey, Where's Flowbee?

Updated below. Two times.

I wanted to see what the Larry Johnson and associated crazies were saying these days, but http://noquarterusa.net/ appears to have vanished. It's not just not responding, I'm getting a error message saying the domain name is unknown.

Should be the first link on this Google search.

A whois lookup indicates that the domain name's registration is good through 2012-11-07, but notes that it was updated 2008-10-24.

Google's latest cache result, as of this posting, shows a post dated "October 25, 2008 at 5:30 AM."

Anyone heard anything?

[Added] Read farther down on the cached page. Looks like a server migration was planned. May it go poorly.

[Added] DNS resolution is established. Site still not up. How will we ever see the "whitey tape?"

Flowbee Watch

Larry Flowbee JohnsonCan you believe Larry C. Johnson is still typing out this same sentence? From his latest post:

I asked a friend who knows someone who has seen the video to [sic] Michelle Obama making disparaging remarks about “white” folks.

Samplings from times past ...

16 May 2008:

I now have it from two three four sources (three who are close to senior Republicans) that there is video dynamite–Michelle Obama railing against “whitey” at Jeremiah Wright’s church.

19 May 2008:

Four Republican sources have told me that the tape exists. I’ve also been informed that Karl Rove and his allies have a copy of it and are using it to raise funds for independent expenditure groups.

[...]

And I’ve learned that a right-wing Republican billionaire has put a $1 million bounty on the video. He doesn’t want John McCain to win, like a number of conservatives, and thinks Obama is a pathetically weak candidate. The billionaire wants that video released now.

26 May 2008:

I have two friends. One is a Democrat and one is a Republican. One lives on the west coast and one lives on the east coast. They do not know each other. Yet each has spoken directly with someone who has seen the tape.

[...]

The clincher came when my buddy on the west coast wrote to me that he had a friend who had seen the tape.

31 May 2008:

New and dramatic developments. This is a heads up. I’ll post the news Monday morning by 0900 hours. Now I know why people who have seen the videotape say it is stunning. Barack’s headaches are only starting.

2 June 2008 07:43 AM:

I learned over the weekend why the Republicans who have seen the tape of Michelle Obama ranting about “whitey” describe it as “STUNNING.” I have not seen it but I have heard from five separate sources who have spoken directly with people who have seen the tape.

2 June 2008 10:48 (by Larry Johnson tool co-blogger "SusanUnPC"):

FYI, for those expecting to SEE the tape, GET REAL. Read Larry Johnson’s description of what is ON the tape. That is the story.

4 June 2008:

At no time have I claimed to have the tape or promised to deliver said tape.

5 June 2008:

So, sure looks to me that there a recording of Michelle’s racist rant exists in the hands of folks working to help elect McCain.

7 June 2008:

The recording that shows Michelle Obama saying disparaging things about white folks is for real. It is not part of some elaborate dirty trick. The people who have seen her comments describe it as “stunning” or “devastating.” I have not spoken directly with the people who have seen the tape, but I have spoken to two of my friends who are friends with those who watched the tape/dvd.

Flowbee's original goal, of course, was to sway the primaries in favor of Clinton. When it became obvious that wasn't going to happen, he changed his tune, and started floating the idea that the sinister GOP operatives absolutely, definitely had the tape, but they were planning to hold it until after the convention. WHEN IT WOULD BE TOO LATE FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO DO ANYTHING!!!1! Presumably, somewhere in his addled mind is the idea of a last-minute change of heart by enough delegates to change the nomination, which, if you ever skimmed the comments from a couple of months ago at NoQuarter, is something you were reminded, early and often, COULD HAPPEN, ABSOLUTELY, NO DELEGATES ARE BOUND!!!1!

I'm going to go way out on a limb here and predict that's not going to happen, either. The interesting question then becomes: will Flowbee continue to push the story of the imaginary tape, thereby revealing himself to have been a McCainiac all along? [UPDATE: Yes, he did continue. See this 21 October 2008 post, for example.]

Enabling Your Short Attention Span

The NYT has a funny story about Phoenix, the Mars Lander, using Twitter. The story, posted a couple of days ago, says it is already the 30th most popular Twitter feed to follow.

As of this moment, according to Twitterholic (the same source the NYT used), it is now 14th. Have a look at Phoenix's Twitter page.

While looking at Twitterholic, I noticed that spot 29 is held by our good friend, Stephen Colbert. Lots of funny lines. When does this guy sleep?

Oh, and the third-most popular feed in the entire known Twitterverse? Hint: Yes We Can!

Someone else is 99th, but I'm sure Lanny Davis or Terry McAuliffe or Taylor Marsh or Larry Johnson will be along at any moment to explain how being 99th is actually ahead of being 3rd.

Not in the top 100? You guessed it!

Just Asking

Is it okay to call Larry Johnson* bitter?

Here's a sample:

On behalf of millions of Clinton supporters who have made it very clear that we will vote for a cockroach before we vote for Barack Obama, I would like you pieces of Obama crap to know that you can kiss our asses. We will collectively do everything in our power to see to it that you and that mysogynist, bigoted, race-baiting pig you worship, the fraud who has already set gender and racial relations back thirty years, goes down in flames in a big way. And there are millions of us. Millions. The kind of millions that brought his type down before from the voting booth.

I'm not sure what's worse -- the delusions of grandeur (millions?) or the degree of hatred. Bring slime repellent with you if you decide to click the link.

And I thought Michelle Malkin was unhinged.

* Upon further review, I see the post was not actually composed by Larry Johnson, but by someone going by the name of "Uppity Woman." However, it's Johnson's site, which means he approved the message, so my feelings about him remain unchanged.
