Deep thought

How much longer will it be before some kid comes up to you and says, "What's that Save icon supposed to be?"

Heh. No doubt.

Maybe a flash drive icon would work.

It does, however, offer the opportunity for an extended excursus on the evolution of magnetic media.

Oh, and hey, thanks for dropping by, just for the sake of reminding me. I don't know how I got out of the habit of visiting Bildungblog.

It's like Craig Ferguson says --- a newspaper is kind of like a blog but it only has yesterday's news.

Icons suck. Not enough people know how to make them usable.

One of the things I did with the copy of Word I am forced to use is get rid of every pointer to every command that isn't absolutely necessary.

Don't worry. In the US I'm sure the floppy disk icon will just get replaced with a crucifix.

Other symbols/metaphors on the way out. Dials. Like "On your radio dial." Or "Around the dial." Around the whatsis? All I see is numbers, pal. And machines. Drum machines, fax machines. "Did you mean the program? The software, you say?" Not sure I like this world.
