In 2004, there was all this talk about the permanent Republican majority. Then they got their asses kicked in 2006 and 2008.

So I was amazed, after 2008's victories, to hear so many people talking about how the Republicans were now a "regional party" "doomed to spend years in the wilderness finding their way back to power." Etc.

I can only hope the Democrats rebound from their 23,576-to-12 seat disadvantage as quickly as they lost it.
