Butchered cliché salad

Amazingly, not by Sarah Palin:

Mail clients are light years behind the eight-ball in terms of CSS support …

Ugh.

Note to Tim Slavin:

1. A light year is not a measure of time. It is a measure of distance.

2. Being behind the eight ball does not mean lagging or trailing. It means being in a precarious, perhaps no-win, situation.

It got me too. It was so bad, I actually searched to see if anyone else called them out on it. Nice.

Oh, thanks so much, Matt. Your comment goes beyond mere "misery loves company." It reaffirms my faith in ... well, maybe not humanity overall. But at least some elements of it.

I'm fairly persuaded by the it's a living language!!!1! point of view, but there are some times when we must say, Y'know, there's probably something to this new math, but for now, is it asking too much to continue to agree that 2 + 2 is not 17?
