"In Defense of Offense" is not, as it happens, an NBA playoffs preview

It is, rather, a piece on political correctness run amok. I have a feeling Dick Cavett is fighting a battle that's already been lost, but hurrah for him anyway.

__________

On an unrelated note, how can Firefox, now in its fourth major release, still not recognize hurrah?

The key is in "running amok". Some political correctness is justified, but in excess, it defeats the purpose of communication.

Exactly right.

That was a good piece, but yeah, Fox, for instance, is only interested in violating a certain direction of political correctness but is extremely interested in maintenance of another orthodoxy.

I miss DC and wish he were back on the airwaves some where some how. Thanks for sharing an excellent piece.
