Yep. That's a real email message, really from YouTube. But try telling Gmail's spam filters that.

I started using the important/not important feature in Gmail, & it is inconsistent, to say the least.

I played with it for a while when it came out, and it did seem to learn/get better. However, it wasn't foolproof as far as avoiding false detections of spam went, and it was annoying in other ways, so I turned it off. Easier for me to use the Gmail filters to create a whitelist.
