Channeling the Iraqi Information Minister

Geoff Garin, lead strategist for the Clinton campaign, on a conference call with reporters this morning:

We think the results last night strengthen the case that she will be the strongest candidate for the Democratic Party in November.

That's funny, Brendan, I was just reading that quote a few minutes ago. I thought, why can't I be a reporter? My follow-up question:

"So you look at Obama's huge victory in NC, where he completely wiped out the Clinton gains from PA and then some, your extremely narrow win in IN where you had hoped for a decisive victory and where known Republicans apparently crossed over to vote for Clinton, see the states quickly slipping by and conclude that Hillary is the best candidate?"

I just don't see how these political types can make themselves say this kind of nonsense, even taking into account their salaries and their probable beliefs that the end justifies the means. No way could I tell one person such a howler, let alone an audience of reporters.

'Course, as you point out, reporters and follow-up questions these days ... eh, not so much.
