Hitchens on "Atheists in Foxholes"

Or, more precisely, the problem of Christianists in the US armed forces. A good read, especially if you have not been made aware of this worrisome trend.

Great piece. When I was in the army back in the '50s we had the choice of protestant or catholic and no others not even Jewish.

At the end of this piece there is a link to Hitchens roast of Gore Vidal which is both very sad and Hitch at his acerbic best.

Heh. As it happens, I came across the piece I linked to in my post because someone had referred me to the Vidal piece, and I saw the military story link there.

I completely agree with your assessment about the Vidal piece. Don't we have a spare pasture out to which we can put poor Gore?
