Due to the Cardinals having made it to the World Series, additional revenue has been generated for the city, and it now looks like city workers will not be required to take a furlough, after all. Hooray!
Okay, that's not actually nearly enough to make you like Tony La Russa. Never forget. Paste-eater.
It occurs to me that the frequency of cuts to his mug may be diminished tonight. Due to Fox's urge to show George and Laura Bush's non-reaction to every other play. And of course, all of this will be smeared with the stultifying gooeyness of Joe Buck's nonstop drone. Which completely explains the excitement of this headline.

Possibly because I've been cable-less, but for the obvious reasons as well, I can't remember a World Series about which I've given less of a crap than this one.
In some senses, I agree with you. The teams that ended up making it there are among my least favorite, and having to suffer through Fox, Joe Buck, and Tim McCarver sure doesn't help.
However, the last month of the regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs were all so good that there is, if nothing else, a feeling of having to watch to see how the story ends. Also, it's not like there's any NBA action to turn my attention to.
I have had long periods without cable myself, so I do know how easy it becomes not to care about sports in that situation. I hope your lot is by choice.
I'll note that during the regular season, MLB.com streamed one entire game for free every day, so if you are (had been) jonesing for some baseball, there was that. Sorry to be mentioning it so late, but maybe it'll be something to keep in mind for next year.
