Following up from an earlier note: Ken Layne reads more carefully into the report connecting pornography consumption and religious/political leanings, realizes that the data are from "anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider," and falls over in disbelief:
These people are paying for pornography, on the Internet.
Of course you want to read the whole thing. Worth visiting just for the great McCain pic.

That's why it's just silly fun: the way the data is gathered is nearly worthless.
Of course. But given the tactics of the other side (and they do it seriously), we can have our fun.
Paying for porn? On the internet? Let me introduce you to the Kyklolps theory of web stuff: if it ain't both free and legal, you don't need it. In fact, it probably ain't worth having.
Porn is but one example. Freeware is another. (Gray areas might include P2P-related stuff.)
