Here is a thirteen-minute commentary from KO, written in response to an op-ed Ted Koppel wrote for the WaPoo. It makes a nice follow-on to the Maddow-Stewart discussion posted earlier.
If you're the sort of person who does not care for KO's presentation style, try to get past that at least this once. He's got a really solid case, and I thoroughly endorse his views on how to report the news and what it means to do a good job at it. Yeah, I too could stand if he dialed it down one notch in a couple of places and let the same words carry the ball, but so what. Call this 99% good:

After the Bristol Palin piece I was thinking how happy I am not to have cable TV anymore. Do miss KO, though. As he would have said on Sportscenter, that last bit about Koppel, is going to leave a mark.
Oh yeah. And believe me, it took everything I had not to hoot and holler in my post about his pwnage of the guy who we all called Alfred E. Neuman before Shrub ever reared his head. Bad enough to have to put up with his Very Serious Late Night News Show In Which Democrats Are Held To Account Only, but when he tried to become the new conscience of Teh Media after ostensibly retiring …
Well, let's just say that there is a long list of reasons why I no longer give to NPR, but their giving Koppel a job a few years back remains high up among them.
