I read The Fountainhead, for the first time, a couple of months ago--and found it horrible.

The Rand of your video is a considerably more appealing person--though I can see why it might embarrass the GOP right.

Heh, yes. Those brief snippets of Crazy Aynie almost make hardcore atheists get tempted to reconsider … but no. That way lies madness.

Once upon a time, a rather appealing woman pressed a copy of The Fountainhead (or Atlas Shrugged, I forget) upon me, and for reasons that will become obvious with a moment's thought, I really, really, really tried to get through the book, in order to have something to say that would make me look good when I was inevitably asked.

Could not do it. Just could not. Not even to feed my raging hormones.

A short while later, my mom asked me if I had MET ANY NICE GIRLS YET, HMMM? and I explained the above situation. She said, "Oh, of course not. You are way too old to be reading that for the first time."

I was ... 26? Maybe 27? And if there is one thing that can be said about me, it is that I was always a late bloomer. So I am going to say that I am unsurprised that you did not care for that Fountainhead thing, just going by comments I've read by you elsewhere and your avatar.

But fuck, I remember when I used to think that Alan Greenspan was … y'know, a grownup.
