Consistency is the Little Hobgoblin of Foolish Minds

From Tom Tomorrow:

Rush Limbaugh, who spent much of the primary season urging Republicans to vote in Democratic primaries for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong uncertainty among Democrats (he called it “Operation Chaos”), is now complaining that John McCain became the Republican candidate due to Democrats and Independents voting in the Republican primary.

The sad thing, of course, is how many of the Dittoheads will erase all memories of "Operation Chaos" and unquestioningly fill in the space with this "truth" about why the GOP got their butts kicked in 2008. Maybe I should swap "Little" and "Foolish?"

[Added] Also, Tom Tomorrow catches Sean Hannity lying. No one could have predicted!

Speaking of Sean Pigboy Hannity, I know how much you love the daily Scarborough update, but he has been absolutely screaming his head off the last two mornings.

Yesterday he was dressing down John Harwood (sp?) of the WSJ, demanding, at the top of his lungs, to know how the media could have "let this happen," meaning, allowed a crook like Obama to get elected because they didn't examine his corrupt ties to Blagojevich before the election.

This morning he was dressing down -- really, screaming at -- two other reporters for the same thing.

Scarborough has that whole crew that sits there with him cowed into submission. He will verbally shred anyone who disagrees with him. And those sluts sit there any take it because they like being on TV, and they like the big paychecks.

All Scarbs is doing is conditioning his viewers to distrust him. Because when none of his wild ass conspiracy theories pan out, people are going to recall with annoyance that Scarbs got them all worked up, believing there was a massive criminal operation with Obama at the head.

Sorry I missed your comment until now.

While I wouldn't place Scarborough quite as low as Hannity, I still cannot understand why you regularly watch this guy. Is it hathos?

I hope you're right about him negatively conditioning his viewers, but I'm not betting on it. To my mind, there aren't very many people who watch him who aren't there looking for red meat, no matter how imaginary it might be. If things worked the way you speculated, Rush Limbaugh would not be making an eight-figure salary. There will always be an audience that thrives on hating Democrats and liberals, and I feel sure that this goes double for a secret Muslim Communist Fascist terrorist-paller-around-with-er who's "not like us," and such people do not let the truth stand in the way of their self-indulgences. Or, put another way, they make their own truth, and anyone who disagrees with it is clearly a DFH who hates America because he was brainwashed by liberal academia and the liberal media. The more evidence to the contrary of what they'd like to believe, the more they are convinced it's all part of the vast leftwing coverup for The One.

The worst thing that happens to Scarborough here is he has to scramble a little to come up with his next nugget for outrage. Given the willingness of a large fraction of the population to latch onto a single (incorrect) line in a gossip column as practically grounds for preemptive impeachment, I don't see him worrying about this at all.
