Conservative intellectuals once complained about the dumbing-down of America and the closing of its mind. Now that the dumbing down of America is conservatism’s program, they have gotten into line, like proper functionaries and earnest quislings. But they’ve at least proved their longstanding claim that you can’t trust the intelligentsia.

I will assume that you know what you are talking about. However, I do wonder whether you are stopping the movie and reaching conclusions based on what you see at that particular moment.
Is your post a reflection of the what you see at the moment or the whole process?
Or should I ask the more basic question, what the heck are you talking about?
If you'll look again, you'll see what's posted is someone else's words. I like the way they sounded. Reading the whole post may make things a little clearer.
