Security Updates: QuickTime

If you're running OS X Leopard, Tiger, or Panther, or Windows Vista or XP SP2, go get the latest version of QuickTime: version 7.4.1. This patch fixes a security hole which could allow a malicious web site to do, um, malicious things, it sez here.

Mac users can also get the patch via Software Update. I don't know about Windows boxes -- Apple no longer issues QT updates for Win2K.

Speaking of security, I once left my gmail address for follow-up comments on your site. Imagine my surprise when I went to another Blogger site, and there was my gmail address in the upper frame.

I've since deleted all my bjkeefe cookies (and closed Firefox) twice, and my gmail address continues to show up. Quite the sticky wicket, what?

Huh. Sorry to hear about that. Maybe try deleting all your Google cookies?

Another idea: use the RSS feed to track the comment threads you're interested in following -- just click the link at the bottom of the individual post page labeled "Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom)." Let me know if you want details on this.

You do realize, I hope, that I have no control over such things -- one of the drawbacks of having a hosted blog. In particular, I can't see your email address (unless you post a comment while signed in under that name, in which case, everybody can, just by clicking on the link to your sign-in name).

Oh, I quite understand it's not an issue of yours. All to do with monetizing the Intertubes at the expense of privacy. Such is the nature of life.
