Yep, strong case. Not that it necessarily had to be made. We all know it. And that's where McCain loses.
If this were 2000, McCain might slide into the White House before the word started leaking out that the press was in his pocket and that we had been "had" on an inside job.
But two things play against him this time around.
First, his shameless pandering to the right in order to secure the nomination forced him to renege on many of his more moderate "Maverick" positions. He can move back towards them, but that would be the famous flip-flip-flop.
Secondly, we're going to look with great suspicion every time McCain seems to be getting "a pass". People will be much more demanding of Straight Answers in 2008.
I hope....
Yeah, I hope so, too. I do worry that people who don't read blogs or pay attention to other alternative news sources will never become aware of this, though.
But at least the blogosphere has gotten it by now. I note that online rightwingers no longer even try to rebut when you point this out about McCain.
You bring up a good point. I always think people know what you and I know, and it ain't always the case.
