"The two-sigma blues" ...

Nearby, you might also have a look at "Tracing Oil Reserves to Their Tiny Origins," by William J. Broad. Probably you didn't really still think that oil was put there by Jesus, 6000 years ago comes from dead dinosaurs, but it's nice to have the story told as well as this one does.
