As The Wasilla World Turns

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston on the cover of US WeeklyJust in case you were worried that the discourse was getting too highbrow on this blog or elsewhere, US Weekly has a new cover story!

Yeah, you could have gone the whole rest of your life without seeing that picture, couldn't you? But think about it this way: I just saved you from having your next trip to the grocery store ruined. We are nothing if not here to help.

And will we excerpt? Of course we will excerpt!

Says Bristol, "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board."

Sarah Palin, sourpuss"Her" being She Who Would Be Mama Grizzly, of course.

The Palins released a statement on the Today show Wednesday morning: "Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what's best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."

Not, as Bernie Becker observes, the most wholehearted of welcomes into Clan Palin, is it, Levi? Eh, you probably think of this the same way I do: just another part of St. Sarah's laser-like focus on ensuring perpetual attention. This is easily seen as a way to keep me the gossip rags on the edge of our their seats, wondering about the next chapter in her never-ending manufactured drama. Plus, you talked smack about her, so you are going to pay and pay and pay and …

Anyway.

Best wishes to the happy couple. Have a great life, you crazy kids! And I mean that most sincerely.

Might want to start by moving to some place in Not Real America.

NB: Sarah pic not actually from an article to do with this story, but a screen grab from a video clip of her recent interview by Baba Wawa, a moment that certainly has to stand as a monument to the mute button. Thanks, Rumproast!
