Via Sully: Ben Smith of Politico reports that Florida Governor Charlie Crist, a Republican, ordered early voting stations to stay open for more hours each day to help deal with the increased number of early voters.
As to the perception that more early voting helps Democrats, Crist said: "This is not a political decision. This is a people decision."
Good man.
Another Republican quoted in Smith's post seems truer to form:
"He just blew Florida for John McCain," one plugged in Florida Republican just told me.
That's the only way the GOP knows how to win, apart from selling fear and hate: by subverting the democratic process.
More info on early voting here. You should, if you can. Then you can do other useful things on November 4th.
And remember, complacency kills:

Crist to McCain: payback is a bitch.
Next time, pick a VP candidate from a state with more than 3 Electoral College votes! (Like, maybe, um, me?)
I don't know if I buy that payback idea, at least not just over the loss of the VP slot. Crist had to know he was a long shot from the whispers about his sexual orientation. Unless he had the impression from something McCain had said to him privately, if I were to be cynical about his motivations, I'd say it was plain distancing himself from the way McCain has campaigned and how McCain is being seen as a consequence.
I think you'd make a great VP, though.

That's the funniest thing I've read this entire campaign.
OMG Fuck, that video is paaaainful to watch.
Ouch ouch ouch.
I feel bad for that guy. Bet he wakes up thinking about that every day. Well, depending on the importance of the race.
But, man.
(LOL: Loved how they fused the big McCain head on the other cyclist.)
Wasn't it just about the time Crist said, "Uh, yeah, I'll campaign for John - if I can find the time..." that Obama moved ahead in the polls there in FL? I'd say BJ is right and Crist had already been distancing himself from McCain before this decision. Besides, do you really want to be the Governor of Florida, with all the voting problems they've had, if this year came down to questions there again? Wouldn't look great on the old resume.

Good point, John.
