Chez has a nice essay up on the issue of real reporters being denied access to Sarah Palin while the spawn of Karl Rove busy themselves with creating and sustaining an image. Chances are you've already thought most of the same things, but he says it well. Plus, he deserves a link just for the title: The Silence of the Lamb.
I'll echo his closing sentiment: please, MSM, please, don't fall down on this one the way you did with George W. Bush. Don't let the rightwing noise machine keep you from doing your jobs. This is too important. Don't let the "hockey mom" skate.
[Added] Via The Jed Report, I see that it's not just shielding from the press that's going on. Now the McCain minions are scrambling to make up for their vetting failures and are engaging in cover-ups.

Heh. Thanks for the compliment, but unfortunately, the part that was my creativity was the verb choice. "Hockey mom" is how Palin has been describing herself for some time now.

Perhaps you don't know the slang usage? It means "get away with" or "escape scrutiny."
