In Other Words, Everything's Peachy

This isn't a paragraph made up from a few anecdotes. It's a summary of real polling data (emph. added):

The views of the Republican delegates on the issues, especially the economy, and on Mr. Bush are sharply at odds with voters generally. In mid-August, only 20 percent of voters said the economy was in good shape, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll of the nation. The Republican delegates see the economy very differently. While they, too, say it is the country’s most pressing problem, they say it is largely in good shape.

Not surprising. Republicans have shown no interest in listening to public opinion, except a little here and there to gather material for decoration in their political campaigning. The voices that they listen to aren't found in public opinion. Their mandates are delivered to them, powerfully wrapped in gold.

Pardon my poetry...and my cynicism.

Poetry's good. So is cynicism, especially about Republicans.
