Paul Campos has an intriguing post up, looking at Sarah Palin through the lens of what else he's currently reading: Rick Perlstein's Nixonland.
I don't completely agree with it. Campos makes point that Nixon was an opportunist and a chameleon, which sounds right, but Palin strikes me as a more committed ideologue. I do agree that she appears to have the same excess of shamelessness and that she'll be able to change colors for the TV cameras just as well as the old Trickster ever did, though. This makes Campos's concluding paragraphs chillingly plausible.
